Geography Bee
Matoaca Middle students participate in the National Geographic Bee competition for students in grades 4 through 8. Students compete in the school Geography Bee in January during their ASE class. The winner of the Geography Bee at Matoaca Middle completes a written test that is submitted to the state National Geographic Bee committee. The top 100 students from the state then participate in a competition to determine the Virginia winner. The state winner receives a trip to Washington DC to compete in the National Geographic Bee.
Knowledge of geography is built over time, so Mr. Snider hosts an after school Geography Team. It's not too early to start building knowledge to compete in next year's National Geographic Bee - or just to have a better understanding of the world. The team meets each Wednesday after school from 3:00 - 4:00 in Mr. Snider's classroom to review and discuss geography, as well as current events and culture related to geography. For further information, please contact Mr. Snider at Reginald_Snider@ccpsnet.net.
World Language Club
The World Language club meets after school periodically. Each meeting is hosted by a different world language teacher and celebrates the culture and food of a different part of the world. Contact your World Language teacher for more information.
